Falling on the second weekend in October, the 10th annual art show “Art on the Green” is bringing many of the areas local artisans together to show off their amazing talents. Pottery, glass arts, leatherwork, jewelry, lapidary art, photography, textiles, wood carving and much more will be displayed for sale! There will be music performances, food and magic shows for all to enjoy, as well as live demonstrations and a chance to meet the talented artists.
Shop locally and naturally and attend one of our weekly farmers markets in French Lick or Orleans to buy fresh produce! Sponsored by Orange County HomeGrown, they work to promote the small-town neighborly values, the natural forests, and the healthy family farms that make Orange County a great place to live. Also shop for plant starts, crafts, baked goods, woodwork, knitting and crocheting, meat and eggs.
The annual pumpkin patch will be happening the entire month of October, starting on September 30th. Pick out a pumpkin and experience some other fun family activities amidst the fabulous fall foliage! Take a wagon ride through the pasture to see zebra and bison. Other activities include 40-foot rock climb wall, bungee jumper, corn box, bounce house, play house and expanded petting farm. Some activities require an additional fee.
Be scared out of your boots in this eerie mansion gone ghoulish complete with spiders, creaking doors and startling creepiness. An actual ghost sighting is always a possibility at The Mansion any time of the year!
Come downtown and check out a group of chainsaw carving professionals called The Bear Hollow Wood Carvers as they compete live to be the best wood sculptor! September 15th through the 18th you can experience it for yourself and watch the spectacular creations happening right before your eyes. With live music, food and a wine and craft beer garden, this weekend is guaranteed to be a hit!
Lasting the entire weekend, September 9th through the 11th, the square in downtown Paoli will be hosting their annual fall festival. Live music, lots of vendors, a parade, and fun for the entire family!
Do you have what it takes to hop aboard the next train and help the local marshals catch the Lost River Renegades? These train robbin’ bandits have once again struck the French Lick Scenic Railway, taking wallets and purses from the travelers on board. If you want to take your chances on being held up, buy your tickets online or at the station prior to boarding.
Check out some fall fun at the Congress Square in Orleans on October 8th. There will be a 5k run to start off the day, followed by a harvest fair, antique tractor show, a chili cook-off, pet costume parade, live entertainment, food and more!
Want to unwind a bit with an amazing view? Check out the Fall Foliage Wine Cruise at Patoka Lake and enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the waterfront. October 6th through the 29th, the French Lick Springs Hotel will be having festivities Thursday through Saturday each week. There will be ultimate frisbee, tie dye, autumn arts and crafts, an evening nature hike, fall films by the pool, s’mores, flashlight tag and so much more! These activities are limited to French Lick Resort and Casino guests only.
